Coming
Up!
As we go through Advent, which begins our Christian year, we look forward to several
events coming up.
Please see both the ecumenical Christmas service and our own Christmas Eve Service
as an opportunity to invite others into our church. Lots of people who do not usually attend church will come at Christmas.
In
January we’ll have our annual meeting and covered dish meal after church, including election of new officers. Consider
who might serve.
How do you answer if someone asks you what you believe? It’s difficult, isn’t
it? In order to be able to put into words those things we believe, in January, we’ll be having a series of soup and
sandwich luncheons/discussions after church to help us define those beliefs so that it’s easier to talk about them.
Sharing our faith with others is what Jesus commands us to do in the great commission. Come and join in!
Realizing past
mistakes, asking forgiveness and amending our ways to create a more just community is something that Christians should constantly
be in the process of. On Saturday, March 28th, Ascension and St James in Lewisburg will be hosting “Seeing
the face of God in Each Other”, a dialogue to promote justice for people of all races and ethnic backgrounds. This is
an important dialogue, especially for those of us who feel like we haven’t contributed to the problem.
